More than a lender, a ministry

CDF Capital partners with local churches to buy, renovate, and restore their buildings, lending the financial capital needed for their next season of growth.

Bridging the funding gap

As an extension fund, we connect thousands of investors across the country with churches in need of building loans. We advise congregations toward strategic debt—offering manageable loans with the goal of a complete payoff of the note.

Always relational, never transactional

As a non-profit ministry, CDF isn’t always able to offer the lowest rate. We attempt to offset this limitation with more generous loan covenants and first-rate collaboration. We strive to be a long-term partner, walking alongside churches to accomplish the logistics side of their kingdom work.

Navigating the complexity of construction

In an era of rising building costs, heightened permitting expectations, and tighter deadlines, churches need a lender with robust project experience. Our construction cost management process has been designed so that church projects align with predetermined budget expectations, providing a clear pathway to project completion.

How CDF Can Serve You

Finance Your Construction Project

The process of building a house of worship is often a defining moment in the life of a church. Yet the challenge of maneuvering through a building project—from the design stage to completion—can be an overwhelming task.

In our more than seventy years of ministry, CDF Capital has assisted hundreds of churches through their construction projects. By utilizing the capital of our investors, churches have been able to build sanctuaries, redesign layouts, and expand campuses, all with the goal of making space for more people to discover Jesus.

Our team of professionals provides churches with the counsel needed to efficiently navigate the financial components of a building project, from initial concept to final move-in.

Purchase Your First Building

Not every church owns the building in which they gather for weekly worship. In most instances, however, ministries benefit from securing 24/7 space. Owning a building offers a church the opportunity to become embedded in their neighborhood while providing a consistent meeting location.

CDF Capital has helped hundreds of churches acquire their first permanent homes. We walk alongside leadership teams as they face the complexity of facility acquisition, explaining issues of logistics and affordability. Our desire is that churches uncover all potential issues before the building purchase so that the ministry can flourish through the transition into new space.

Refinance Your Debt

Established congregations must continually manage budgeting challenges. A church’s largest financial commitment is existing debt. Since churches are unique in the lending space, they are often forced to pay higher rates than other commercial loans.

CDF was started in 1953 to help churches that struggled to obtain competitive financing options. CDF Capital refinances loans to help churches find relief from steep costs. Our desire is for ministries to focus more on their communities than on their creditors.

About Our Church Loans

  • We typically offer three-year and five-year terms (occasionally considering longer terms)
  • Interest rates are generally fixed throughout the entire term
  • Amortization periods are available for up to twenty-five years
  • Construction loans convert to permanent financing at no additional cost
  • For construction loans, we often offer interest-only periods (from twelve to eighteen months) to help churches adapt to new building costs
